gretawire.jpgGretaWire is a favorite read for me.  Greta Van Susteren has been a part of FoxNews for many years and has a wonderful show each night at 10 pm.  If you want to know what really happens behind that camera, Greta tells all with photos, video clips and commentary that will amaze and delight you as a reader.

My readers know I listen to FoxNews and Fox Talk Radio on my XM radio.  I enjoy Greta and her show, but I like her blog best.  Greta is candid, honest and funny.  It will not take long reading her blog post before you will know she is a real person, charming and fair.

I say that GretaWire is a must read if you want to see and hear the insider stuff behind the TV camera.

My Favorite Blogs and Why #1

I started my first blog over two years ago.  While I was looking at other sites, I found a blog called Big White Hat.  I made a comment on a post of his and in return, he made a comment (the first comment I ever had) on a post of mine.  As history has it, I kept going back again and again to for fun, inspiration and insight.

Zane of BigWhiteHatThe reason I place BigWhiteHat at the top of my blogger list is because I trust the author (Zane).  He is a man of God, a father, a husband, a cook, a coach, a leader, an educated man and a friend.  He draws no conclusion he can’t back up.  He tells it as it is, as it was or as it will be.  He has a great sense for humor in life, love and work (see this post).  But most of all, he has a love for his wife (see this post) and family (see this post) that surpasses the understanding of most who know him.

For these reasons, I give Zane of my highest respect and top position on my favorite blog list.

USS William Jefferson Clinton

The USS William Jefferson Clinton (CVS1) set sail today from its home port of Vancouver, BC.

USS Clinton

The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton “for his foresight in military budget cuts” and his conduct while president. The ship is constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum and is completely solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal comprised of one (unarmed) F14 Tomcat or one (unarmed) F18 Hornet aircraft which, although they cannot be launched or captured on the 100 foot flight deck, form a very menacing presence.

As a standing order there are no firearms allowed on board. The 20 person crew is completely diversified, including members of all races, creeds, sex, and sexual orientation. This crew, like the crew aboard the USS Jimmy Carter, is specially trained to avoid conflicts and appease any and all enemies of the United States at all costs!

An onboard Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may sound hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises that all apologies will sound very sincere.

The ship’s purpose is not defined so much as a unit of national defense, but instead in times of conflict the USS Clinton has orders to seek refuge in Canada. The ship may be positioned near the Democratic National Party Headquarters for photo-ops and can be used extensively for social experimentation and whatever other worthless jobs the ex-commander-in-chief and his wife can think of.

It is largely rumored that the ship will also be the set for the upcoming season of MTV’s “The Real World.”

The ship was renamed and commissioned USS William J Clinton when someone realized the USS Blowfish was already

As U C I’m OCD

Being OCD has different meanings to different people. To me, it means that I must count the steps into a truck stop.  I must sanitize my hands 15 – 20 times a day.  I must never step on a crack in the sidewalk (stress cracks in the concrete do not count… just the man-made joints…that’s the rules!).  I must count all the ceiling tiles in the exam room while I wait to be seen by the Doctor. I must eat the veggies first, then the green stuff and then the meat. I must wash the right side of the windshield and then the left.

As well as things I must do, there are things I can not do.

I can not go into a casino. I will lose everything I have, borrow more and lose it and then I will sell everything and lose that too.

I can not do things out of order. I must eat the veggies first, then the green stuff and then the meat (more rules).

I can not go to bed without checking the door lock 5 times before I fall asleep.

Now that you know this, here is what happened Saturday night.

I did my laundry at a truck stop. I was in a hurry to get it done so I could get back out on the road. As I am folding my underwear, I folded one pair up inside-out. I looked at it and said, “Let it go… I’m in a hurry”. I then folded the socks, pants and shirts because that is the order they go into my basket.

I took the basket of clean clothes to the truck and just left them in the basket with the intent on putting them away before I go to bed, but I am still thinking about that one pair of underwear being inside-out.

I took off in the truck and drove about 100 miles into Alabama.  I could not take the pressure anymore and had to pull off the road, dig through the whole basket of clean clothes, find the aggravating pair of briefs and turn them right-side-out before I could finish my trip.  I could not go another mile with that pair of underwear hanging over my head.

What a life….. lol

“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,
nor the kindly smile nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when
he discovers that someone else believes in him
and is willing to trust him.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“When you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful if he sends,
Not diamonds, pearls or riches,
but the love of real true friends.”

My Friend

I can’t give solutions to all of life’s problems, doubts,
or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will
search for answers.

I can’t change your past with all it’s heartache and pain,
nor the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can’t keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.

Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.

Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you,
and help you when you ask.

I can’t prevent you from falling away from friendship,
  from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.

I can’t give you boundaries which I have determined for you,
But I can give you the room to change, room to grow,
room to be yourself.

I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting,
But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces
and put them back in place.

I can’t tell you who you are.
I can only love you and be your friend.

I am praying for you, my friend.

Do you Google Earth?

Do you have Google Earth?

I enjoy looking at places that I have been or places I am going to.

The photo I have here is from Google Earth.  I am at that truck stop just north of the interstate you see here.  I know this photo was taken some time ago and is not real time, but it does give me a great look at where I am from the air.

You can e-mail snap shots of places or you can send the ‘spot’ you want someone to see and it will open it in your recipients Google Earth.

It is free and fun.  What more could you want?
